Summary of my thoughts: My translation makes 3 references to the word "grace" in Ephesians 1:1-10. Dictionary.com defines lavished as "to give or bestow in abundance, shower." Microsoft Word provides the following synonyms of lavish: plentiful, generous, sumptuous, abundant, copious, bountiful, prolific, fulsome, extravagant, immoderate, unrestrained (to name just a few).
Paul responds to this grace with such praise and joy. After reviewing the definitions and synonyms of "lavish", I wonder why we don't react the same way. Not only do we get such an amazing gift, but we spit upon the price He paid every single day. And He is still willing to give it! I feel like we should spend our days in awe, torn between humility at our unworthiness and overwhelming joy at the abounding grace of God.
